N Scale Model Railroad Vehicles

Ultimate N Scale was started in California by Chuck Short. In the summer of 2002, all rights were purchased by David Dougherty, owner of Panzerschiffe (model warships) since 1973. This catalog comprises our latest list of products. We offer kits of all types of trailer-on-flatcar (TOFC) models: n scale trucks, n scale trailers, n scale decks, unique 75' n scale flatcars, plus other n scale items used from the thirties through the eighties. The UNS system is designed for piggyback freight service on N gauge railroads. Because these products are so unique, we believe they will become collector items.

The primary focus was piggy back trailers and flatcars for the 40's, 50's and 60's. We have added other vehicles and items for more modern periods including n scale buses, loads, and conversion parts. These items will allow the modeler to run TOFC trains with each trailer being different and with different decks appropriate for several railroads. We also offer a finishing service with decals for several trucking firms and railroads.

All of our products are authentic models of real historic vehicles. These are resin castings which are ideal for piggy back (TOFC) use because the weight is just right to avoid ultra-heavy loads common with metal castings. All kit assemblies require merely a moderate skill level. All pieces have to be washed in warm soapy water to remove the parting agent. Several parts will require some removal of flash. Also, the bottom of the original UNS parts will have to be sanded flat. All hobby paints will work well on them.
